About EVEological

The EVEological Podcast is a monthly episodic discussion of various aspects and features of EVE Online, to better understand their place in the sandbox as they pertain to “emergent gameplay”.

Wikipedia defines emergent gameplay as:

“complex situations in video games, board games, or tabletop role-playing games that emerge from the interaction of relatively simple game mechanics.”

The gameplay and history of EVE Online are driven by the interaction, cooperation, and competition between its players. EVEological aims to put the game under a microscope to see how its many parts serve to facilitate these interactions.

The things that happen in EVE, the things worth talking about, occur irrespective of CCP’s involvement. These events are emergent due to the nature of the game itself and the tools it provides to the players.

To summarize, EVEological is less about what is happening in EVE, and more about how the players make things happen.
